Parents of Five

One of the twins...

In case you've been wondering what we're up to, here's our new surprise. We are parents of 5 kids! We had the joy of watching 5 children this past weekend while some friends of ours took a little vacation out of town. The Cones, our friends from church have two twins that just turned 5 yrs, a 7yr old, 9 yr old, and an 11 yr old. We were busier than ever with the kids. We went to the park, our campus a few times, the duck pond every day, Mazzios, Maggie Moos, the Street Party (community event), a baseball game, and anything else a kid would want to go! The boys just thought it was cool to have the college "Soccer Coach" as their babysitter. As many of you know, Brenton and I are not used to getting up at 7:00am, so we were getting pretty tired come Sunday evening.

You might think we were worn out, but this Tuesday we were invited to the twins birthday party. You better believe it, we made a special appearance to take Cinderella and Ariel cell phones. We were pretty cool. Brenton was even told by one of the twins, "I just wish you could live with me forever." While we are not living with the Cones, we are still partying on! In fact, we're having ham for dinner tonight. Give us a heads up if you want to come over.

Close to a Great Year

This single post is meant to compile all the amazing memories made with our friends at OWU during the 2006-2007 school year; we'll see how well this can be concluded in such few words. Saturday, of this past weekend, was a time of goodbyes and congratulations as we watched many of the campus leaders walk on stage to received their diplomas and pack up in order to move on to new destinations. We are excited to see that our friends, RAs, and soccer players have accomplished so much. However, we have not enjoyed all the necessary farewells.

Thanks to these many wonderful students, we have come to realize how blessed we are able and were able to invest in them. It is neat to live in a community where so many students strive to glorify the Lord. One of those tremendous testimonies was given by Woo Ram, who came from South Korea. Woo Ram shared what OWU brought to his life at commencement; I'd almost go so far as to say there may not have been one dry eye in the room after his speech was concluded. (Woo Ram's is the one on the bottom right of the soccer picture). As we close out this year and begin preparing for the next, it is an honor to think of working with a new group of leaders and to continue on with those we have already built relationships. (The pictures below include a number of Brenton's soccer players, Kelly's RA's, and other friends.)

Camping in Good Ole OK

Thank you Brenton for having a birthday! Because of this lovely holiday, this past weekend we went camping in Brenton's new tent. Our ever so crazy friends Caroline and Kevin helped me (Kelly) put together this part of Brenton's birthday celebration.

We had some fun times getting our new mansion, Brenton's tent, set up. However, the screen view of moonlight and stars was well worth they hard effort. Rather than a starry view, Caroline and Kevin found they were blessed to be closer to our partying neighbors and the wild turkey that visited our camp. This sure made for a night of fun, or should I say sleepless night of fun. In all, our first time camping as a married couple proved to be a needed and delightful experience!
